Change is an opportunity, not a threat. Whether it is a new technology, a new process or a new organisational structure, the real work is bringing people with you, and that is where the value is either created or lost.
Professional Background & Career Journey
Fiona-Sophie Grube has spent 20 years in talent acquisition and HR. She started in agency recruitment and temporary staffing (Arbeitnehmerüberlassung) as a staffing consultant in Germany, then moved in-house as assistant to the CEO, combining hands-on HR administration with strategic, organisational and process design work.
She joined Serendi as a recruiter and quickly took on leadership of candidate sourcing operations, building Serendi's sourcing teams in Poland and Hungary and managing the consolidation of sourcing into Hungary, including the relocation of the sourcing centre from Switzerland. From there she moved into broader delivery responsibility and client-facing work, and then into solution design and implementation on more than 20 RPO accounts across Europe, many of them multi-country.
Her client work spans services, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, consulting and technology, with a focus on the DACH region, Benelux and Central Europe.
Role at Serendi
As Chief Development Officer, Fiona-Sophie leads Serendi's business development and organisational development, including leadership of the HR function.
Her day-to-day spans solution design and the fine-tuning of Serendi's commercial offerings, presenting solutions to clients, and product design, most recently the end-to-end development of Serendi Flex, the company's Recruitment as a Service model, from initial research through design to commercialisation. She covers Europe, primarily DACH, Benelux and Central Europe.
Beyond the Office
Fiona-Sophie is a German native who has lived on three continents since childhood, in the United Kingdom, Greece, Southeast Asia and Central America, and is now based in Fribourg, Switzerland. She is a mother of three daughters, whom she is raising multilingually, and sees combining a career with family life as part of what leadership means, setting the example herself and helping build an organisation where that is genuinely workable for everyone else.
What Drives Fiona
She writes about the economics of hiring because most hiring decisions are made without them. A model that cannot be costed cannot be defended, and a business case that ignores what it asks of people will not survive contact with the organisation. Both halves have to hold.
Understanding the mechanics is what has moved her career forward. She has never been able to leave a system unexamined: from agency recruitment into sourcing operations, then solution design, then building a recruitment product from scratch, each step meant taking a new set of mechanics apart.
What she values most is what happens to people along the way. She has coached and mentored colleagues from internship into management roles, and treats that as the clearest evidence that a structure was designed well: the people it grew matter more than the numbers it produced.
